Hemp vs. Marijuana
Hemp cannot make you high.
But doesn’t marijuana come from the same plant?
It comes from the same plant the way that Chihuahuas and Pit-bulls are both dogs. One has a lot of “bark,” while the other has a big bite (but we all know a nice Pit-bull or two).
Or no bark…
So, what is the actual difference?
Both hemp and marijuana are species of cannabis and both contain cannabinoids, a naturally occurring substance that regulates brain function.
Hemp is high in a cannabinoid called CBD (Cannabidiol), which, is non-psychoactive, and is
being clinically researched to medically help people suffering from seizures, inflammation, nausea, and potentially stop the growth of cancer cells!
Recent studies have shown that many mental disabilities can stem from brain seizures, and if CBD can help to regulate them, well then many people are potentially missing out on the medicinal resins from hemp.
Then you have, Marijuana.
The difference is the type of cannabinoid called THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which has proven to be a psychoactive substance. The flower bud contains this substance in resin crystals, it’s said by many to have medicinal and mind expanding effects. However, to get this experience the THC must exist at more than two times the amount of CBD.
So, breeding marijuana with hemp would cancel out marijuana’s effect. If you are thinking about growing a very expensive marijuana crop, you might want to keep it about 10 miles away from the nearest hemp crop.
Many advocacy groups and individuals are devoted to challenging the current perception and legislation of marijuana, which, for the sake of clarification, we avoid in this context.
I’ll say it again, hemp cannot get you high…
So, if you are looking to roll a joint with a pair of trousers made from hemp, you’re just going to waste a lot of nice fabric, and be stoned sad.
However, if sporting hemp products that are safe for people and our environments, while being made by workers who are treated fairly, makes you feel really good, click here to feel the buzz…
